Vaughn Barkman started studying yoga 18 years ago. Over the course of the first couple of years he tried numerous styles before discovering Iyengar Yoga. It immediately clicked and he’s now going on 16 years of practicing and learning from various senior Iyengar yoga teachers. After his first couple of years of attending classes at Yoga North, he began the teacher training program, directed by Val Paape and Lisa Towson. Before completing his teacher training courses, he moved from Winnipeg to the Onanole/Wasagaming area. He continued to have a dedicated practice away from Yoga North, had a couple of kids, and then started teaching yoga classes in the area. With gentle encouragement from Lisa, he finally decided to go through the Introductory 1 & 2 Certification process this year. His practice has always supplemented and supported his great love for the outdoors, from being an avid long distance runner to biking and swimming.
