The King Of The Asanas

Sirsasana, or Headstand, has been called the king of the postures. BKS Iyengar states in Light on Yoga that “Regular and precise practice of Sirsasana develops the body, disciplines the mind and widens the horizons of the spirit.” How can you work toward or improve your Sirsasana? What is needed for a stable and dynamic Sirsasana? When Sirsasana is unavailable to you, what poses or preparations can you work with? We will explore these and other questions to find ways to deepen your experience of this powerful pose. Open to all Continuing and Intermediate students with a five minute, independent shoulder stand.

Date: Thursday, January 25th
Times: 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Fee: $65 or $60 with food donation

Shift Through Wisdom

Peri-menopause and menopause bring physical, emotional and cognitive changes. Our capacities change and our practice should adapt to support our body’s transition. We will look at general concepts such as working with support, creating space and the (extra) importance of inversions during this extended time. We can ease our experience of menopause with a regular practice, inviting a positive attitude and approaching it wisely and with gratitude.

Date: Thursday, March 8th
Times: 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Fee: $65 or $60 with food donation

Spring Break Sadhana

Sadhana is our practice; it is the way we walk forward on the path of Yoga. This quick 7 day Sadhana, will be a guided practice gradually building from one day to the next to support the deepening of understanding and capacity in Asanas (postures) and Pranayama (breath work). This is a good opportunity to introduce yourself to the benefits of daily practice, or prepare for the longer Sadhana in June. Regular practice allows the body to sustain change, the mind to settle and the heart centre to open more expansively.  Open to all who have completed Beginner session.

Dates: Sunday, March 25th to Saturday, March 31st.
Times: 6:30 - 7:45 a.m.
Fee: $75 or $70 with Food Donation

*Looking Ahead: Summer Solstice Sadhana, 21 days in June, dates TBA*
