insight studies

Our practice is not only about improving poses, it is a gateway to self-understanding and personal evolution. Are you interested in deepening your practice and digging into yogic concepts?

What is it?

Through guided self-study, the Insight Studies series will connect physical practice to philosophy and how our time on the mat relates to and benefits the rest of our lives. We will focus on the teachings of BKS Iyengar, Dr. Geeta Iyengar and Prashant Iyengar, explored through the platform of our Asana and Pranayama practice. Each week you will receive readings and questions to guide personal reflection. Workshops bring an opportunity to move more fully into the work and gifts of our practice, both in the moment and over time.

Please note: workshop and Sadhana attendance is strongly recommended but optional for Insight Studies students. If you cannot make a workshop, you may still take part in Insight Studies.

Who can take part?

Insight Studies is open to all current students who have a home practice, regardless of whether you practice once a week or daily.

Do I need any books?

Readings will be provided in weekly emails, but there are some foundational texts

that would be very beneficial to have over time.

Recommended texts are: Light on Yoga; Light on Pranayama; Light on the Yoga Sutras;

and Light on Life; all by BKS Iyengar.

When does Insight Studies take place?

Insight Studies will have 2 sessions yearly, one from from January - March (Winter Session)

and the second from September - December (Fall Session).
